Old Freo cottages

I love going into Fremantle. The bus goes along South Street and the closer you get to Freo the older and nicer the houses get. Some are made with thick limestone and I can imagine how cool it must be inside in the summer! Others are made with wood panneling like in New England and often have roses and sunflowers growing outside to complete the look.

A lot of them have iron roofs, which makes me think that it must get really hot under there in the summer, but we have an iron roof and it's fine (it's the bricks outside that get really hot)

The best one I have seen so far is a little off South St and is on the way to the doctors, I managed to get a sneaky pic with my phone in between rain showers the other day.

I always wonder why you wouldn't build a house that looked like this if you were doing things from scratch. All those new suburb places that they are building and offering up for $360,000 with no deposit are nicer than some of the red brick 70's houses that are around but still, look at it, how sweet is that house?! Hopefully one day we will be in a house like that.
